Seattle Part 4 "A little crab and a bon fire"

The boys decided to go drop some crab pots and see if we could catch anything. This so brings me back to when I was younger and would visit my Aunt and Uncle. It was always fun to pull them up and see if we got anything. Crab would be on my list of favorite foods. When they were getting ready to take off, Isaac informed us that it would be boys only and when we asked if we could come he said "No, you are girls, but we will pick you up when we are done". My Aunt and Uncle have a marine rail so you can access the ocean from their property. It is illegal now on San Juan island to have a dock. It is really rocky and not a straight beach that the house sits on. So you get in the dingy and row out to the anchored boat. My Uncle took care of that part and pulled up the big boat to pick up the boys.

And off they go...

Since Alex was down for a nap, I had to take a breather in the hammock. I love hammocks and could spend countless hours reading in one.(or sleeping)

Later that day when they pulled up the pots, there were eleven crabs, but we could only keep one. There were ten that were either too small or females. So this was our guy. Little did he know he was about to become a very yummy appetizer.

After he was boiled and ready to crack...

Isaac was very proud and it didn't seem to bother him that we were going to eat the crab...

...he was more interested in dissecting it.

Tutu soaked the body shell in a bleach solution, so it wouldn't smell. Isaac carried it around for the rest of the trip.

That night we lit a bon fire. We intended to make tin foil dinners on the fire, but it was getting late so we opted to cook them in the oven. There was still a little time left for smore action. After we got started, I realized this was Isaac's first time making smores!
